23-year-old blind singer, Vernon Barnard, inspired millions of people around the world during his The Voice South Africa audition. His incredible voice and positive attitude towards life brought coach Bobby Van Jaarsveld and the many South Africans who watched the show to tears as he lived his dream. His talent saw him place in the Top 8 of the season and despite not winning, Universal Music South Africa saw potential and offered him a record contract. Now, his dreams are becoming a reality as his he preps his debut single.
In a post on his Facebook page, Vernon revealed that he has finished writing his debut single. “I have waited my whole life to tell the world how I feel,” he revealed. “I am so blessed to say I can say it through my very first single ‘I Like It That Way’. Humbled working with the exceptional Vaughan Gardiner and Hugo Ludik.”
The single is scheduled to drop over the next few weeks although an official release date it yet to be confirmed. I expect this to be a song that comes from Vernon’s heart. All the previous singles released by contestants of the reality show have been written for them but Vernon sat down and put all their thoughts and emotions into song – something I’m really excited about. It’s Vernon’s time to shine!
