2016 was a massive year for the three-time multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated artist/producer duo The Chainsmokers. Their hit single ‘Closer’ stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 consecutive weeks. Since then, the duo released an EP which saw ‘All We Know’ receive moderate airplay. Now, the duo are back with their official follow-up single – a track called ‘Paris’.

After the success of ‘Closer’, Drew Taggart of the group jumped in with another vocal performance – something he didn’t do much before dropping the smash hit. The song is another summer anthem which is bound to set alight radio charts and beach clubs around the world. The song sees a more subtle production style from the duo who make the vocal part of the song the star. It’s great to see the duo take a different approach to their production style on the single and change things up a bit – while still incorporating many elements from ‘Closer’ which will help listeners immediately identify the duo as the creators of the track. Lyrically, the song isn’t anything spectacular but the duo have worked their magic to create another piece of pop perfection.

Meanwhile, ‘Closer’ keeps making history. The song’s official lyric video reached a staggering 1 Billion views on VEVO this week which is an incredible achievement. The Chainsmokers recently received three Grammy nominations in the Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Closer” Featuring Halsey) and Best Dance Recording (“Don’t Let Me Down” Featuring Daya) categories. Alex and Drew also recently took home the award for ‘Favorite Artist – EDM’ at the 2016 American Music Awards. The duo have made a huge impact on both pop and EDM music over the past two years and with every new release, the duo prove that they’ve got so much more to offer and that they’re here to stay.
