It’s an exciting time over at 5FM! After the sudden and shocking move DJ Fresh made to Metro FM last month, the station had a massive gap to fill. Now, after a month of negotiations, the station has announced their new line-up – and it’s fire! Listeners will be pleased to know they have brand-new drive time shows with Roger Goode and team taking over the reins for breakfast from 06:00 – 09:00 and Thando Thabethe and Msizi James commanding the afternoon drive spot, 15:00 – 18:00.

The entire Roger Goode Show is moving to the breakfast slot. That means Sureshnie Rider remains on news, Ms Cosmo on traffic and Robbie Kruse on sport. This makes way for a new drive time show which will see Thando Thabethe – who has had a massive rise in popularity on the station since joining Roger Goode as a co-host back in 2014 – take over the reigns. She will be joined by Msizi James as co-host, Sibs Matiyela on news and Duran Collett on sport as The Thabooty Drive comes to life.

This means that there will be a few other changes on the station as well. Justin Toerien, Thando’s former co-host will move to co-host with Stephanie B from 22:00 – 01:00 Mondays to Thursdays as well as take over weekend breakfast from 07:00-10:00 alongside Nadia Romanos on news and Jude van Wyk on sport. Nick Hamman’s popular Hamman Time moves to a new time slot and gains an hour of radio. He will now be on air weekdays from 09:00 – 12:00, as he is joined by Carmen Reddy on news, while The Forbes and Fix Show moves to 12:00 – 15:00 with Kim Schulze on news.

5FM knows it’s Ultimix feature is a massive part of so many people’s day so the feature will now be live every weekday from 18:00 – 19:00 with the Weekender5. The Ultimix by The Weekender5 will feature DJ Loyd on Mondays, Kyle Cassim on Tuesdays, Ms Cosmo on Wednesdays, Das Kapital on Thursdays and a Legends mix on Fridays.

“5FM has always promised to bring new music, new presenters and new innovative content to the youth of this country and this line-up change is no different,” Grant Nash, 5FM’s Programme Manager says. “This is huge for Roger and Thando who are phenomenal presenters who listeners, clients and artists alike have fallen in love with over the years. Msizi is one of the freshest new talents around and I’m very excited for our new drive shows.”

On the station’s changes, 5FM Marketing Manager and acting Station Manager Liesl Hefkie says, “The competitive radio environment challenges one all the time to think out the box, come up with amazing content, complement that with great music and all for the sake of an overall pleasurable listening experience.”

The new line-up falls into place on the 1st of May and it seems to be an exciting time over at 5FM. What do you think of the changes? Let me know in the comments below. In the meantime, here is the new 5FM line-up in full:
