Camila Cabello shocked the world earlier this year when she announced that she is departing Fifth Harmony. The split was a bit messy but ultimately, the star wanted to embark on a solo career after her hit collaborations with Shawn Mendes, Machine Gun Kelly and Pitbull and today, the star drops her debut solo single ‘Crying In The Club’.
The beautiful pop track was written by Benny Blanco and Sia and gives us a hint of the sound the star is expected to explore on her upcoming debut album ‘The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving.’ The moody pop track is about overcoming a broken heart and it’s a brilliant piece of pop music. Camila really puts her voice on full display. Although the Sia influence is almost too obvious, I love the direction the star has taken sonically. The production is strong and impactful and the star does a fantastic job with the delivery of the track. Oh – and can we talk about how epic the ‘Genie In A Bottle’ sample is?
Camila seems to be coming into her own and this song has really made us excited for her upcoming album. “I might have thought the hurting was my enemy before, but she became the best listener. I might have thought I was too impatient for the healing, and it did feel like sometimes she was taking forever, but I realized it made me appreciate her so much more when she arrived. And the loving, I wouldn’t have known how beautiful she was if I couldn’t miss her all that time,” the singer explains of the album’s title. The star also dropped the track’s music video which she says perfectly fits the record. This video summarizes the message of my journey over the past couple years, from darkness to light, from lost to found,” Camila explains. “The director, Emil Nava, and I are put our hearts into this and we hope you like it!”
