He stole our hearts on the second season of The Voice South Africa and after ultimately winning the show, Craig Lucas has just dropped his debut single. The song, titled ‘I Said This’ serves as the lead single off the star’s upcoming debut album which is due for release later this year and sees the star gravitate towards a soulful pop approach.
The song was written by Jethro Tait of The X Factor South Africa-winning group FOUR and is ultimately a romantic love song. Although the song sounds a little dated, ‘I Said This’ is a clever lead single in the sense that it showcases Craig’s vocal ability wonderfully. From the falsetto to his tone and even the rap in the pre-chorus, Craig further proves he is a jack of all trades. The song also indicates the direction the star is expected to take on his debut album and it’s made fans around the country even more excited for what’s to come.
“I am so grateful to everyone who supported me on The Voice South Africa by voting and constantly sending messages of support and fighting for me. I feel an overwhelming responsibility to pay them back and the best way I can do that is by making music for them; this song if for them,” Craig says of his debut single. “The lyrics speak about it being “our song” and that’s what I wanted it to be. It is a feel-good song and it perfectly encapsulates how I’ve felt since winning. I wanted to share the good vibes with everyone else.” The song is now available to download or stream on your favourite digital platforms.
