Earlier this month, M-Net announced that Frank Opperman and Tembisa Mdoda will compete in the inaugural season of Dancing With The Stars South Africa and as the season prepares to go live early next year, the channel has announced that Liesl Laurie And Juantia De Villiers will join the two as celebrity contestants.
Juanita is well known for her theatre work and acting roles in movies such as ‘Knysna’, ‘Somer Son’, ‘Die Pro’, Willie Esterhuizen’s ‘Droomdag’ and ‘Gys De Villers’, ‘Die Ontwaking’. Most recently, she played a nurse in kykNET’s new movie, ‘Hartsorg’. “I’ve never done Ballroom and Latin dancing before,” a nervous Juanita admitted. “But I’m so incredibly excited for the experience ahead!”
Joining Juanita is former Miss South Africa and Jacaranda FM presenter Liesl Laurie. Liesl won the Miss South Africa pageant in 2015. During her reign she stole the hearts of South Africans from all walks of life as she impressed everyone with her humility, boundless energy and striking sense of style. Liesl is incredibly competitive and she’s ready to fight her way to the top. “I’m ready to win!” she says. “I’m also ready to learn and have fun – I’ve always wanted to do the splits, and now I have the opportunity!”
Dancing with the Stars SA, in which 12 untrained local celebrities will put their best foot forward with the help of highly skilled professional Latin and Ballroom dancers, will commence on M-Net channel 101 on Sunday 4 February 2018. The hosts of the series are Tracey Lange and Chris Jaftha and the esteemed panel of judges will be announced in due course.
