Singer-songwriter Janice has been making quite a name for herself in and around the Cape Town music scene as Jimmy Nevis’ backing vocalist over the past few years and after releasing the hits ‘Now Or Never’, ‘Liar Liar’ and ‘Extasy’, Janice is ready to take on the music scene yet again. The star just released her dance-ready new single ‘Baile’ which is sure to set dancefloors alight.

‘Baile’ is a strange track because although it’s new and current thanks to banging beats by producer DM Thorne, there’s an element of nostalgia to it. The fiery percussions celebrate both African and Latin influences and is reminiscent of the early 2000s releases from artists like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Enrique Iglesias. But, Janice makes the track her own thanks to her soulful vocals and energetic performance. It’s very clear that Janice has a strong vocal and her voice oozes passion.

The song is on trend and takes audiences on an interesting sonic journey throughout it’s three-minute duration. ‘Baile’ means ‘dance’ in Spanish and that’s exactly what you’re going to want to do after hearing this track. Janice reveals that the song celebrates the “typically long and often eventful Cape Town summers” and the result is a fresh, fun and fearless banger. Janice proves she has the talent and creativity to go far and we’re really enjoying the experimentation and risks she took while creating the song. ‘Baile’ is now available on all major digital platforms.
