My first experience at The Hussar Grill was at their Morningside Shopping Centre branch. I’ve heard a lot about the steak house and I finally trekked to check it out for myself – and fell in love. The entire experience was incredible. From the fabulous wine list to the impeccable cuts of meat and a delicious crème brûlée to top if off. It was an experience I have not forgotten since and it’s made me a repeat customer.
Although I knew there was a branch in Cape Town, I didn’t know just how big the franchise was. The first branch opened back in 1964 and to date, 18 restaurants are located in South Africa and Zambia. Renowned for selecting only the finest quality, 28-day aged, South African beef and game, the owners and management are passionately involved in the maturation, trimming and preparation of all grills each day and it’s what has made the franchise so popular.
At the end of last year, the group expanded their footprint in Gauteng by opening a flagship restaurant inside the Montecasino complex. The Hussar Grill Montecasino presents the tried and trusted authentic grill room dining experience in a comfortable and intimate setting that has proven such a recipe for success. It’s a perfect place for any occasion (birthday, anniversary or a business lunch.
Mike Page, GM of Montecasino, says, “Montecasino constantly strives to keep our offering of memorable experiences fresh and appealing for every visitor, whether frequent or first-timers. The Hussar Grill, with its long legacy of excellence as one of South Africa’s premier grill houses, is adding value to our diverse range of restaurants in Montecasino – and we welcome them and every one of their patrons to our precinct.”
Although I was mad Mugg and Bean closed down, I could not have asked for a better replacement than The Hussar Grill. If you haven’t been to the steakhouse yet, I highly recommend it.
