Besides a couple of features, Nicki Minaj has been pretty quiet on the music front. She recently disappeared from social media and made very few public appearances but her hiatus is officially over! The rapper is back with not one but two new singles and has just premiered ‘Chun-Li’ and ‘Barbie Tingz’, the lead singles off her upcoming fourth studio album – her first since 2014’s ‘The Pinkprint’.
The star admitted that her social media detox helped her refocus on her music and she believes that the upcoming record has the best material she has ever written in her life. Now, she’s ready to step into the spotlight – and she’s doing so in a big way. After an in-depth interview with Beats1’s Zane Lowe, Nicki Minaj premiered the singles ‘Chun-Li’ and ‘Barbie Tingz’.
Nicki moves away from the heavy hip-hop focus she has on ‘The Pinkprint’ and plays with a lighter sound somewhere between hip-hop and pop. While the songs are a bit on the lighter side, Nicki added that she has even more personal and deeper tracks on the record and added that the upcoming record is incredibly layered.
Nicki Minaj is back and stronger than ever. Let this era begin!
