Brendan Peyper has a lot of exciting things going for him right now. He is in the finale of the exciting reality show Tropika Island Of Treasure, he just released a deluxe edition of his latest album ‘Hy Loop Oop’, he’s a father to the cutest puppy in the world (you’ve got to check out his Instagram account!) and now, he’s bagged the role of Buddy Holly in Emperor’s Palace’s new musical ‘Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story’.

Written by well-known West End author Alan James, the musical celebrates the short yet impactful life Buddy Holly lived and his impact on the music industry as well.

21-year-old Brendan Peyper has made a massive impact on the Afrikaans pop space ever since he released his debut single ‘Stop, Wag, Bly Nog n’ Bietjie’ back in 2015 and continues to be a breath of fresh air in local music scene.

Naturally, the star is incredibly excited about signing on to this project. “Once I realised how big the production is and what a wonderful challenge it is, I jumped at the opportunity,” Brendan says. “I have been working hard to perfect his South American accent. Rehearsals began last week, and honestly, it’s been the most amazing jamming ever!”

Frans Swart, the show’s producer, says Brendan is the perfect fit for the role. “I have been watching Brendan for quite a while now, and he is incredibly talented,” he says adding that he is looking forward to bringing this production to life on a South African stage. “It is wonderful to be able to bring this West End musical to South Africa again to celebrate the life and talent of Buddy Holly. More than 25 million people around the world have seen it and it’s going to be the party of the year!”

Catch ‘Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story’ at Emperor’s Palace’s Theatre of Marcellus from 15 May to 10 June 2018. Tickets start at R300 and are now available from Computicket.
