It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from Majozi. The star shot to fame in 2015 with the release of his single ‘Fire’ and has since topped the charts with hits like ‘Darling’, ‘Breathing’ and his collaboration with Tresor titled ‘The Woods’. His debut album ‘Fire’ was nominated for a South African Music Award and he has become a staple performer at festivals around the country. Now, after a short hiatus, Majozi is back with ‘Waiting’ – the highly-anticipated debut single off his upcoming second studio album.

While his previous singles had an indie-pop undertone, ‘Waiting’ sees the star experiment with a variety of pop and dance sounds. The singer was inspired by Daft Punk and originally the song focused on finding hope in the face of feelings of inadequacy. Later, he got together with Brad Klynsmith from Gangs of Ballet and evolved the song into a solid story dealing with relationships and love. The single impacts radio stations and streaming services today and is expected to become another hit for the local crooner.

Alongside the release of ‘Waiting’, Majozi also released a follow-up to his smash hit ‘Darling’. The track, simply titled ‘Darling Pt. 2’ is a wonderful follow-up and shows off the star’s emotional side wonderfully. When asked how the song came about, Majozi tells us that “I have always wanted to write a follow up to ‘Darling’, hence ‘Darling Pt. 2’ came to life. I also wanted to write a love song as good as Ed Sheeran without actually being in love, just to see if it was possible. It’s not.”

The singer adds that he is incredibly excited about this new era and showing fans what he has been working on. “I am ecstatic to finally release new songs and I really can’t wait for people to hear them; it’s been a while! The new songs still feature heart and vulnerability like my previous work, and anyone who is still figuring out life and love – which is pretty much everyone – will be able to identify with them.”

‘Waiting’ is out everywhere now.
