The Parlotones front-man and The Voice SA coach Kahn Morbee has spent the last year promoting his second solo album ‘A Noise In The Void’. The album has been successful locally and spawned hits such as ‘We Could Be Divine’, his smash collaboration with Karen Zoid, ‘Rhythm Of The Night’ and ‘Melt’. Now, he’s picked ‘The Muse’ as the next single off the project.
The mid-tempo ballad strips away the theatrics and shows off Kahn’s raw emotion and incredible vocal ability. The song has an old-school feel to it which is something different to what we’re hearing on radio at the moment and it’s yet another way Kahn strives to stand out, experiment and celebrate different. “The song is about taking for granted that intangible elixir that inspires and gives birth to creations not just in the arts but in the tapestry of a sunset and the melody of a bird,” Kahn tells us. “It’s that essence that surrounds us and that leaves us inspired but for which we show little gratitude for.”
The single arrives just weeks after Kahn’s album was nominated for a South African Music Award for Theo Crous as Best Enginner and ahead of Kahn’s upcoming Western Cape tour which will see him visit Cape Town, George, Mossel Bay and more venues this June.
Kahn continues to push boundaries when it comes to his music and strives to create music that speaks to his soul rather than conforming to what is popular on the radio right now. ‘The Muse’ is testament to that and is available to stream or download on your favourite digital music platforms.
