After dropping the video for her recent single ‘The Fear Inside’, local indie pop sensation Janie Bay moves swiftly along to promote the next and fourth single off her SAMA-nominated album ‘Miscellany’ titled ‘Can’t Be The One’.
The singer shows off a different side to her with the moody ballad as she dives into the notion of letting go of a lover despite not wanting to. “This is a song about the idea that even though some relationships are meant to help us grow, not all loves are meant to last and even though it can be hard to come to realize it and to let go, it is not the end [of the world],” Janie tells us about the single. “We process, we learn and we are okay in the end.
The star dropped the track’s official music video today which brings to life the emotion the song encompasses. “I wanted to create a very intimate music video to go along with this very deep song which jumps between real time (in that very specific time of coming to grips with the fact that one needs to let go of a person for the betterment of each other) and then flashbacks portraying moments and memories two loved ones shared,” Janie explains. “I believe not all relationships have to end badly and it’s okay to remember the good times as well.”
