Jeremy Loops will perform a once-off headline show at the iconic Roundhouse in London on 16 February, 2019. The first South African musician to do so since the venue reopened in 2006.

One of the most renowned art houses in the world, the 172-year-old institution, with a 3500-person capacity, has played host to legends of music, including The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and The Ramones, while contemporary stars like Radiohead and Bon Iver have called The Roundhouse home for their headline shows in London too.

Speaking on the landmark show, Jeremy Loops said “We’ve been working toward this for a long time. Our first London show roughly five years ago was to 100 people, and just two years ago, we were at 1000. We’re going through hyper growth right now to hopefully sell out a 3500-seater venue in London is remarkable. One doesn’t just ‘book’ a venue like Roundhouse. It’s a rite of passage. I’m just glad to be a part of it.”

Although a few South African musicians have played at The Roundhouse as part of the British Council’s Roundhouse Rising artist showcasing event, this is the first time since the venue’s glitzy re-opening that a South African musician has headlined a show there.

Loops added that “As soon as we sensed we had some real momentum in Europe, putting South African music on the map was and continues to be the ultimate goal. Steadily, we’re getting closer and closer, and we’re just fortunate to be in a position where we can do something significant and open doors so other other musicians back home are inspired and believe we can all break through glass ceilings if we work together.”

Jeremy Loops has toured Europe several times recently, most recently in the first quarter of the year in support of his new album, Critical As Water. The sell-out tour moved 30,000 tickets, and his album debuted at #1 on iTunes South Africa, while it saw top 5 debuts in Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Tickets go on sale Friday, 15 June 2018 on http://jeremyloops.com/
