Ever since she was a child, Raven-Symoné has been a popular face on Disney Channel. ‘That’s So Raven’ was one of the most popular shows on the kids’ channel in it’s time and a decade after the last episode aired, Raven returned to Disney in its popular new sitcom ‘Raven’s Home’.

This time around, the show follows the hilarity and adventures of long-time best friends Raven and Chelsea who are each divorced with kids of their own – Raven’s twins, Booker and Nia, and Chelsea’s son, Levi – living in one hectic but fun household that often includes the twin’s best friend and neighbour, Tess. Unbeknownst to the kids, Raven still catches glimpses of the future, and unbeknownst to her, Booker has discovered he has the same ability to see into the future.

The first season of the show, which premiered last year, became one of the most popular shows on Disney Channel. Now, the show is back for a second season later this month and ahead of the highly-anticipated second season premiere, Raven flew down to Mzansi to attend the season’s official premiere.

Held at the popular Movies@Montecasino complex last night, media and some lucky Disney Channel viewers were treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming season. At the premiere, Raven revealed that she is incredibly excited about the show coming back. “I can’t wait for South Africa to watch the second season of ‘Raven’s Home’,” Raven tells us. “On season two you’re going to see some people you may remember from ‘That’s So Raven’, Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child and we’ve got a special sing-a-long episode towards the middle of the season as well. ”

Raven has also made sure to experience as much of South Africa as possible during her short stay and visited sites like Vilakazi Street and the Sterkfontein Caves. “My trip to South Africa has been amazing,” the star tells us. “I got to meet some amazing people and see some incredible things. It’s been fantastic.”

She adds that the support she has received in South Africa is incredibly overwhelming. “I have not been here before but I felt a huge overwhelming support from my fans here,” Raven continues. “I didn’t know just how many people love the show. I’ve seen some comments on Instagram but I never knew just how popular the character is over here.”

‘Raven’s Home’ premieres weekdays on Disney Channel (DStv Channel 303) from Monday, 8 October at 16:50.
