Last year, AKA famously split with his record labels Sony Music and Vth Season to release his incredibly successful ‘Touch My Blood’ independently. ‘Fela In Versace’, the latest single from the project, has become one of the rapper’s most successful singles to date and in a shocking move, the rapper has returned to his former label mates for a new global deal.

“I am proud to announce my new partnership with SONY Music Africa and Vth Season. This is a long-term global deal that will take my music to new heights for many albums to come! Cheers to the future!” AKA said about the new deal.

With him being one of the biggest musical stars on the local entertainment landscape, the labels are glad that AKA are back in their stable as they plan on taking his career to new heights with an international presence on his next album.

“There’s never been a stronger combination than Vth Season and AKA, and we are happy to be a part of it once more. We all know that AKA is a great musician and we are excited to bring that to the world,” said Benza, Co-Founder of Vth Season.

Meanwhile, Refiloe Ramogase, General Manager of Sound African Recordings, a Division of Sony Music Entertainment Africa adds that “We are very excited to have Kiernan Forbes back in the family. There is no doubt that AKA is one of the best and brightest that South Africa has ever produced, and we believe that, in partnership with ourselves, we have the ability to export the AKA brand, as well as many other talented artists that we have on our books, to the world. Here’s to many exciting things to come! Welcome back to the family, Kiernan Forbes!”

AKA previously revealed that ‘Touch My Blood’ would be his last studio album but, luckily for fans, the new deal means that we can expect a few more records from the rapper in the years to come.
