Kelly Khumalo wowed fans when she made her highly-anticipated return to music earlier this year with her stunning gospel single ‘Jehova’ and now, the star is almost ready to release her new album ‘Unleashed’.

In a recent interview, Kelly confirms that the writing and recording process took her over nine months to complete and that, like a pregnancy, she went through a variety of emotions while creating this project.

“I must say that this album is by far the best work I have done in the past 15 years. I am very excited about it and it took me nine months to finish this album. I still felt that I could have done more but I had to let it go, it is beautiful though,” Kelly says. “I went through all sorts of emotions… at some point I was depressed and at some point I felt like I wasn’t giving enough. So I’ve gone through all the phases of pregnancy with this album. From the first song, I knew what the album was going to be called, Unleashed.”

While ‘Jehova’ is a beautiful gospel song, Kelly’s ‘Unleashed’ sees her dip her toes in a variety of genres. “I am unleashing everything in this album. I am unleashing blessings, love, prosperity, spirituality and happiness. I am unleashing everything that represents everything good… you know peace and joy,” she says.

Besides ‘Jehova’, her collaboration with J-Flo, Kelly has also joined forces with Kyle Deutsch on ‘Lonely Fool’ and Vusi Nova on ‘Thumela Omalume’.

‘Unleashed’ drops in store and on your favourite digital streaming service on the 26th of October.
