It’s a reunion that has been years in the making but after being spotted together for the first time in years earlier this year, rumours of a Spice Girls comeback tour have been at an all-time high. Now, however, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chrisholm have confirmed that they will, indeed, be going on tour in 2019 – without former band member Victoria Beckham.
The exciting news was announced alongside a hilarious video of the girls and dates for six shows around the United Kingdom for next year. The girls will kick off the tour in Manchester on the 1st of June before heading out to Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol and finally London’s Wembley Stadium.
“I am so excited, together we celebrate girl power with our fans and the next generation and everyone is welcome,” Geri said shortly after the announcement.
Naturally, many fans are devasted that Victoria Beckham won’t be participating in the reunion. The fashionista, who runs a massive fashion label, revealed that “business commitments” stopped her from joining the tour. However, it seems she is still excited about the Spice Girls reuniting. “I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year,” Victoria says. “I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”
The tour will be supported by the incredible Jess Glynne who has just released her incredible second studio album ‘Always In Between’ – a project which features the hits ‘All I Am’ and ‘I’ll Be There’.
Tickets for the Spice Girls reunion shows go on sale this Saturday.
