Afrikaans rocker Jo Black did phenomenally well with his debut album ‘Skepe’. After the success of the project, the star underwent an emergency medical procedure in the second half of last year and has taken things slowly ever since. This time allowed him to start work on his second studio album and now, the singer has dropped ‘Voel Jy Die Genade’, the lead single off his upcoming album of the same name.
The song is another uplifting, meaningful track from the local superstar who continues to spread his message of hope and faith. The song is the perfect comeback single. It’s upbeat, well-written, inspirational and showcases his incredible vocal perfectly – and it’s the ultimate sing-a-long anthem fans will undoubtedly be chanting at some of the star’s upcoming live performances.
On the upcoming album, Jo has teamed up with his long-time songwriting partner Johan Vorster, one of the greatest Afrikaans songwriters today, and has promised fans an even better album than his first. “I’ve really poured my heart and soul into this album. I’ve worked incredibly hard on this project and my hope is that people will be as inspired by listening to it, as I felt in creating it,” the singer tells us.
Following up his debut album isn’t an easy feat. ‘Skepe’ reached triple platinum status and is by far the biggest selling Afrikaans album of the last two years. Tracks off the album garnered the star over eight million YouTube views and scored Jo Black seven Ghoema awards – a record number.
‘Voel Jy Die Genade’ is available everywhere right now and Jo Black’s new album drops everywhere on 15 February 2019.
