Hip-hop star, Emtee, has been making headlines over the past week as he makes his battle with record label Ambitiouz Entertainment public. Emtee took to Twitter last week where he shared the hashtag #FreeEmtee and listed some of his frustrations with the label – begging them to let him out of his contract.

Despite the public spat, Emtee reveals that he hopes to leave the label “as clean as possible”. In an interview, Emtee said that “It is true. It is unfortunate about the how. I am trying at the moment but unfortunately I am surrounded by a lot of people. That is a lift for the next person. I don’t blame anyone for saying what they feel is going on but they need to be sensitive to what is happening behind the scenes.”

He added that “(Ambitiouz owner) Kgosi (Mahumapelo) doesn’t want me to leave, but it isn’t up to him and I made it clear that I want a new start. If I do things the right way, I believe that it will be resolved. I still wanna make music. I have been through the most and I am unbreakable. I am not angry or mad. I will get through this.”

The star also opened up about his financial woes revealing that he has lost his house and his car recently adding that his wife and kids have moved in with his in-laws while he tries to find a new place for them.

“They (Ambitiouz) didn’t repossess the house and cars. I don’t have it anymore. They helped me get it but it wasn’t part of the contract. It was simply that I had problems with the maintenance and it is a matter between myself and the agents,” Emtee says. “I just kind of go where I can. My family isn’t with me, they are with Avery’s grandmother at the moment. I miss my kids but I try to be with them every day.”

Ambitiouz Emtertainment is expected to release a statement around Emtee’s position with the label soon – but it could get ugly. In a social media post, the label said that “It’s is unfortunate that the company find itself in a position where it is forced to divulge information about Artist Affairs, We only choose this route as a last resort in protecting other Artists within the label and the reputation of its Employees…”
