Thando Thabethe’s rise in radio has been exceptional to watch. She started out on campus radio before moving to YFM in 2008. After three years on the station, she moved to 5FM where she co-hosted with Roger Goode before landing the coveted drive time slot in 2017 – making her the first female drive time host on the station.
In an official statement, Thando said that “We had to make a very difficult decision, something we’ve had to ponder over for many, many months. Basically, I’ve tendered my resignation at 5FM. And the idea is to focus on the things that I want to do,” she said,
Thando adds that she is looking forward to opening up the industry to new talent. “I’ve been doing it for almost 11 years now, and I hope I’ve opened up the path for other young, black women to soar in that field.”
The star also took to social media to share the heart-breaking news with fans of The Thabooty Show.
